Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs Will Skip Concert Series for Cancer Treatment
The guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs has stated he will miss a leg of his band’s reunion tour as he undergoes treatment for a prostate cancer diagnosis.

The 60-year-old musician, a original member of the band, announced he will be unable to play at the scheduled shows in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.
The show in Seoul is scheduled for 21 October, with subsequent dates in Tokyo on 25-26 October, Melbourne on 31 October, 1 and 4 November, and Sydney on 7-8 November.
Statement on His Condition
In a social media post, he disclosed that he was found to have prostate cancer at the start of the year and is reacting positively to treatment.
“Early this year I was found to have prostate cancer. The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which enabled me to take part in this amazing tour.
“Now, I am needing to take a planned break for the subsequent stage of my treatment, so I’ll be unable to attend the concerts in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney. I’m very disappointed to be absent from these events but I’m feeling good and will be returning prepared in time for South America.”
Earlier Cancer Diagnosis
This marks his first medical challenge. In 2022, Arthurs revealed he had been found to have tonsil cancer.
At that time, he stated: “Just to inform everyone I’m going to be taking a break from playing for a while. I have been found to have tonsil cancer. But the positive news is it’s treatable and I will be beginning a treatment plan soon.”
Musical Journey
Arthurs played in the band The Rain with the frontman in the early 1990s before they brought in the singer’s brother, Noel, who subsequently demanded they change their name.
He recorded three records with the group, including the landmark Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, before departing in 1999 during the recording of the fourth album, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.
Arthurs later joined Liam Gallagher’s band for a period and has frequently played live with Liam during his individual projects, most recently at the UK music festivals in 2021.
He also established the group his own band and worked as a broadcast presenter after his time with the band.
