Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the quick descending corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
