Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
