BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Overly Demanding
The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, many players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Players have started using personalized games made via the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how demanding these missions have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but although many simply offer cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of acquiring twelve from the forty-one primary weapons found within the game.
Several of these locked weapons may soon make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration across Reddit
On Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer pointed out one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at very short distances, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Extremely Difficult Task
One more community participant highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns
This is challenging enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and perhaps a classic map in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from over 200m away.
The Alternative Method
However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.
Yet, if doing the challenges in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are made easier in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply will never acquire the restricted guns.
At the moment, the player base continues to express their views on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a more balanced overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
